Weekend Update

We didn't do a whole lot this weekend. Kodie stayed home from school on Friday with an ear infection and subsequently skipped his Saturday hockey game in Southgate which the team lost 5-6. Although Kodie missed his game, he was feeling better in the afternoon so we went to see the movie Twilight while Jamie went to a baby shower in Holt for her friend Jessica. The movie was really good, after which we met Jamie in Lansing for dinner at BD's Mongolian BBQ. "Yum, my fav" My brother & Dana dropped Kaiden off about 6:30 pm for a few hours so they could see a movie. Kaiden was hilarious. He loves the cat.

On Sunday, Kodie had a home game against the Redford Royals which we won 7-5. Kodie played ok, but took a couple penalties. Oh well, he definitely wasn't 100% after being sick for two days.

Dinner with Friends

Last Sunday, Stephanie, Drew, Grant, and Mindy all came over for dinner. I made lasagna and Mindy made a really good desert. I don't remember what they were called, but man were they good! We usually always get together around this time of year to celebrate the holidays and just hang out. Those two girls are like my sisters and I don't know what I would do without them. We always have such a great time no matter where we are or what we are doing.
Grant is such a good baby and was the center of attention all night. He even opened his first present!
Here are some pictures of that night.

Half Way There

Last Sunday, I hit 20 weeks and I can't believe that I am half way there, already! I can no longer button any of my pants because either they won't button or because it is to uncomfortable to have them buttoned. The belly bands are the greatest invention ever! My goal is to not buy anything maternity until the new year. I will have to see if I can last that long! Here is my 20 week photo...

Pittsburgh

The day after Thanksgiving we traveled to Pittsburgh PA, for Kodie's annual Thanksgiving hockey tournament. In past years we have always gone to Indianapolis. This year the team decided to do something different. With lunch and 1 extra potty break it took about 6 hours to drive. It took about 7 hours coming home as the weather was nasty.

Pittsburgh was a really neat town, though we did not have a chance to really explore like I would have liked to. It is an incredibly difficult town to navigate through with all the hills and curves, and everything being so close together. We would have never made it without our Garmin Nuvi.

Saturday most of the group ate lunch at the Primanti Bros Sandwich Shop. They are famous for their sandwiches, which are topped with french fries and cole slaw. Yumm. Check out the website. http://www.primantibrothers.com/
After lunch a few of us went to the Mellon Arena which is where the Pittsburgh Penguins play. We tried to get tickets to watch the Penguins vs. Devils game later that night, but they were all sold out. We went into the gift shop to look around and realized the door leading to the arena was open, so we made our way inside. We took a couple pictures inside the rink. Some of the kids found pucks laying around from practice. Kodie found the door to the Penguins locker room. It was the next best thing to actually being at the game.

The kids went 2 and 2 in their tournament. We won the first 2 games and should have won the third game, but lost. All we needed was to tie the 4th game and we would have made it to the finals, and a rematch with the Canadian team that handed us our only loss so far. It looked as though that was going to happen but with 2 minutes left in the game the other team scored to break the 4-4 tie, and that was that. We were headed home.
Tyler's team made it to the finals in their division and came in 2nd.

All in all it was a nice weekend. I would like to get back to Pittsburgh when we have time. Perhaps this summer when the Tiger's play the Pirates in interleague play.
