October 25 & 26, 2008

So this weekend was the big MSU vs. UofM game and I think I speak for everyone when I say how absolutely delighted I am with the results. I mean does Michigan stink or what? Anyways, Jamie & I took Kodie & his friend Alex to Buffalo BBQ Wings (Jackson's fake b-dubs) to watch the Javon Ringer show on one the many TVs. If anyone has not yet been there, the food is pretty good, the service is getting better but if you are looking for somewhere to watch a game, it is a great place.

Sunday Kodie had a home game. They tied 6-6.

October 18 & 19, 2008

Saturday I finally used my massage gift certificate that Jamie & Kodie got me for my birthday last year. While I was doing that, Jamie & Kodie took Sidney to the vet for some shots and a nail clipping. That afternoon we went to Klavon's to eat pizza, have a couple beers and watch the MSU vs. Ohio State game. Kodie brought his friend Tucker, and Mindy & Phillip met us there. What a pathetic game. We left at halftime down by 28 points. As you all know, we lost 45-7. Oh well, I had been dying for some pizza from Klavon's. (chicago style) That evening we went to Mindy's parents house for a Halloween Party.

Sunday Kodie had a hockey game at home. We lost 0-5.

MSU HOCKEY vs U MASS LOWELL

I was given 4 free tickets to the MSU vs U Mass Lowell Hockey game last night. Oh boy, is it going to be a long season for us MSU Hockey fans. They looked horrible. Of course, there's like 12 freshman on the team. Oh well, Tyler and Kodie's friend John went with Kodie and I. We had a good time despite the 0-3 loss.

Cancer Walk

While Jamie and I were enjoying a day alone Saturday, Kodie was at his Grandma & Grandpa Wortmans. He participated in the making strides for cancer 5k walk downtown with his Grandma and her family. While Kodie was waving at some cheerleaders from his school, a photographer from the Cit Pat took the picture below, which ended up in the next mornings paper.

Night Out

Jamie and I had a nice night out last Saturday, October 11th. No kid, no hockey, no dog. We went to see Daniel Tosh, a comedian, at the Kalamazoo State Theater. Both him and his opening act were pretty funny. Before the show we ate dinner at Burdicks, which is a bar and grill inside the Radisson Hotel. Dinner was just ok, probably would never go back. We still had a nice night out.

Dallas Drake

Wednesday night while Kodie was at hockey practice I went to Southfield to check out a new FanaticU sports store. http://www.fanaticu.com/
Unbeknownst to me, Dallas Drake happened to be there. For those of you that don't know who Dallas Drake is, he won the Stanley Cup last year with the Wings. He let me take a quick pic. Cool Huh?

Hockey's Back

Kodie's hockey team has been back on the ice for about 5 weeks now. The first month was mainly practice, with the exception of one scrimmage a.k.a 0-7 butt kicking. (we lost) The last weekend in September the kids were in an early bird tournament in Kalamazoo. They went 2-2

We are now back in full swing with practice on Wednesday's & Friday's, away games most Saturday's and home games most Sunday's. This past weekend we had a game in Lapeer against the Lapeer Storm which we won 7-6 on Saturday, and a home game Sunday against the Frasier Falcons which we tied 4-4. Below are some pics of Kodie & friends warming up before the home game Sunday. Also his tentative schedule thru December.

Arizona

In September, I (Gary) went to Scottsdale, AZ to attend training for work. My classes ran from September 8 thru 12. Jamie flew out to join me the last day. We stayed until the following Tuesday, September 16 to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Jamie wasn't feeling the greatest, so we spent the majority of our time shopping. Nothing to strenuous.

My friend Ron O'Rourke and his wife Lindsay had just moved to Avondale 2 months ago, which was a 30 minute drive from Scottsdale. We all got together Friday night and went to an Arizona Diamondbacks game. That was a blast. They play inside a dome, which was closed due to the 101 degree temp outside, however they did open the roof for some post-game fireworks.
After the game, we got a ride back to our car from two pedal cabs. That was fun.

The 4 of us got together again Sunday in Glendale for some shopping and dinner.

Jamie and I had a pleasant weekend, and it was nice to see Ron & Lindsay.

Labor Day Weekend

Labor day weekend we worked in the yard a little, and spent some time at the Wortmans on Gillette's Lake. Jason & Brenden were in town from North Carolina. We spent the better part of two days roasting in the sun. Kodie brought his friend Alex one of the days, and the boys spent some time waterskiing.
